Our Story

In 2019, God opened the door for Pastor Jason Thomas to return to his home state of West Virginia and fulfill the vision God placed in his heart: planting a church in Morgantown. Despite challenges posed by COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 and 2021, others progressively bought into this vision and began meeting for a bible study. The Bible study grew and launched as "The Church at Morgantown" on September 12, 2021, with a core team of 9 members.

Since that time, God has mightily multiplied the ministry of The Church at Morgantown. A growing Young Adult ministry, mercy ministry partnerships, discipleship groups, and other outlets for fellowship and mission continue to affirm God's plans.

We confidently believe God has a heart for Morgantown. Further, we believe God has a plan for The Church of Morgantown to serve this city. Our brief past encourages us in present ministry, and we serve in great expectation of God's continued work!

OUR Team

Jason Thomas is a native of Parkersburg, WV and joined the United States Air Force out of high school. He realized his need for grace at age 24 and surrendered his life to Jesus. He surrendered to the call to ministry in 2003 and used his G.I. Bill to complete a degree in Missions at Boyce College. Jason and Hannah married in 2010 and have three children. Jason has served in various ministry roles in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Arizona for youth ministry, prison ministry, college ministry, and homeless ministry.

Lead Pastor

Nathan Polk grew up near Charleston, West Virginia, where he was saved as a child. Compelled by a call to serve the local church fostered by his home church, Cross Lanes Baptist Church, Nathan surrendered to God's call to pastoral ministry at the age of 17. Nathan holds a B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration from The University of Alabama and an MBA from West Virginia University. Nathan previously served on staff with a church plant in Alabama.
